Alan Stransman began his professional career as a teacher of English and Film at the high school level in London, Ontario. He then attended the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, earned a Master’s degree in Telecommunications/Film and began a career in broadcast television production. Among his numerous credits are several award-winning documentary programs on such topics as missing children, wife assault and child abuse.

In 1999, Alan created, wrote, produced and directed one of the first television series ever to profile the top resort and destinations spas in the world. Entitled “Spectacular Spas”, the series was in production for three seasons and was broadcast in over 50 countries around the world. Alan received an award for Outstanding Leadership in the Spa Industry by the Canadian Spa Association for his pioneering efforts on the series.

In 2005, Alan founded one of the first spas in the world for men, called The Men’s PowerSpa, located in downtown Toronto. “Don’t Let Your Dream Business Turn Into a Nightmare” is his account of that endeavor.
